I’ve spent much of my career leading engineering teams and building systems that last. Some are built from code, but all are built from people. The best ones are steady, thoughtful, and established on trust.

Fundamentally, I see "vision" as my calling. My job as a leader is to explain the "why" and then get out of the way so the people I trust can figure out the "how". I want people to have the space to make decisions, solve problems, take pride in what they create, and hold themselves accountable for the outcomes. The trust to do so isn’t a gift, it’s a recognition of what has already been developed and demonstrated.

AI has become part of that work now. It’s powerful, and it makes us faster and more creative. But the real strength still comes from people and their judgment, their context, and their care. AI is a tool that helps, but people are the ones who make it meaningful.

Ultimately, I’ve learned that leadership isn’t about holding everything together on my own. It’s about building systems and cultures that stay strong without me. My favorite moments are when I realize the team no longer needs me to keep moving; that’s when I know I’ve done my job, when I sleep well.

If I had to sum it up, I believe in this:

And leave things better than you found them.

Everything else works out in the end.
